Do I need experience for a bareboat charter?

None at all. Our skippers are ASA International certified. Your job is to help pull lines when asked, keep watch when it is your turn, and show up for the adventure. The 2026 Belize crew had zero collective sailing experience and had the trip of their lives.

What is a bareboat charter?

We rent the boat outright from Sunsail with no crew provided, and we skipper it ourselves. We provision it, sail where we want, and anchor where we choose. There is no tour group, no fixed schedule and no strangers at your dinner table.

How many people on a catamaran charter?

The boats are 4-cabin catamarans of 45 to 50 feet, designed for 8 to 10 people. Each cabin is private. Couples share a cabin, and solo travelers share with one other person unless they prefer their own cabin.

Is Belize good for sailing in November?

Yes. November in Belize avoids the April price premium while the southern cayes stay gorgeous, and it marks the start of the dry season. Barrier reef sailing, whale shark country and pristine cayes, from about $659 per person for five nights.

Can solo travelers join a sailing trip?

Yes, and most of our crew come solo or in pairs. Solo travelers share a cabin with one other person unless they prefer their own. The whole point is being good company for five to seven days, not arriving with a group.

Trip costs are divided among confirmed crew, with no hidden fees. Flights you handle yourself.

What happens after I express interest?

We review interest across all trips, identify which ones have enough crew to confirm, then reach out personally to everyone who flagged that trip. Nothing is confirmed until we reach out and deposits are collected.

Q: How much does a sailing charter cost per person?

Between $633 and $2,185 per person for 5 to 7 nights, depending on destination and season. That includes the boat, all onboard equipment and the certified skipper, divided equally among 8 to 10 crew. Add flights ($300 to $1,200), provisioning ($150 to $250), fuel and marina fees ($50 to $150) and park fees ($10 to $50).
